Heavy Metal Confessions: She Don't Know Me by Bon Jovi

When I was in junior high I thought this song was very awesome. What's more, I found the narrative in the video compelling and ironic. And, finally, I thought Jon Bon Jovi was wearing a perfectly good size of pants. It never even occurred to me that they might be one or two sizes too small. (Also, a lot of my dancing at the time was informed by his moves.)

  1. A couple of things:

    1. Is that Howard Stern playing the guitar?
    2. Does anyone else notice Bon has a difficult time walking in those pants?

I wish I would have had that video when I taught HS English. It illustrates irony really, really well.

  2. I think this was the video that inspired your, "Bon Jovi is going to make it big" declaration. Now that I have watched it again, I can see where you have copied his moves.

  3. That's right, Heidi--I totally called Bon Jovi! I especially like when he kicks a rock to show how dejected he feels.Watch for it--it happens about 2 minutes in.

  4. Well, he sure has changed a lot. I'm sorry to say I don't think his woman in the video is very cute.

  5. The pants are a smidge distracting. I think you look like the girl all dressed up. JBJ's hair has come a long way.

  6. Oh shoot! I wrote my comment about you looking like her before Jenna's was up. Cute, cute, I promise!

  7. This most definitely qualifies as what I believe the kids are calling a "power ballad" these days.

(Butt) Rock on! (Butt) Rock on!

  8. Heavy Metal Confessions Confession: Every time I check my blog for comments (which is often) I watch this video (the whole thing) and I still like this song (and I mean LIKE like).

  9. eww. squishy.

and yes lisa, it looks like he has to walk using only his waist and knees. No movement in the hip joints allowed in those jeans! There were quite a few girls in high school who had to walk the same way. I always wondered how they could sit in a chair. Maybe they could only sort of lean back.

  10. and completely unrelated...

I had a couch incident involving one son and a bit of bleach. I'm blogging about it, but wanted to link your couch pictures because mine is SO nothing compared to yours. But I can't find that entry in your archive. Is it still there? If you have a second, could you send me a link? That is, if you don't mind me linking you.
