Gratitude Journal: Snow and Cold

It's really hard to know what to wear when it's snowy and cold outside. You can't follow Stacy and Clinton's advice. Bare legs with skirts? No sweats, track suits or yoga pants? Ballet flats? I find myself in a predicament almost every day: I can dress nice but I can't leave the house or I can dress for the weather and not want to be seen leaving the house. It's hard. Here in Provo we all just give each other a free pass on snow days.

It makes me positively gleeful to see how the starlets at Sundance are dealing with it, i.e.--not so well.
I mean, even I think she looks ridiculous and I'm wearing thick shapeless pants and two coats. It makes up for how we say stuff like, "Well, Jennifer Garner looks good now but wait until she has kids. . . " and then she has a kid and looks fine and we are kind of mad. But no matter how rich and famous you are--black tights don't look good with weird white strappy sandals.

Snow and Cold, you are the great equalizer and I thank you for it.

  1. And, have you seen what Miss Phillips has on under that coat? Something that looks like a nightie. No free pass for her baby. But then why is she famous and at Sundance anyway?

  2. I don't find anything with that outfit that is okay...snow or otherwise.

Somehow, it makes me feel a whole lot better about what I'm wearing today. While it isn't snowing here, it IS rainy and cold.

  3. It's true. I find fashion more forgiving in the winter--I can wear the ugly tee shirt, but with a cool sweater to cover it. In the summer I am vulnerable--here it is, my layer--make it count!

  4. Hi, I found you through the daily knack...Anyway, I laughed at this post! You are so right about those black tights and white sandals. I don't think she could have even gotten away with black sandals! Who wears tights with open toed shoes...Anyway, thanks for the laugh.

  5. Are those white jellies she has on?

  6. Do celebrities TRY to look homely at Sundance? Is that a cool thing I wouldn't know because I'm not "famous"? Is it kind of like MORP?

  7. Wow. Even I, fashion-challenged as I am, think she looks awful.

  8. It's because they are all from L.A. We are not exactly sure what to do with this cold weather thing. You should have seen me my Freshamn year at BYU trying to figure out how it all works.

  9. Snow and cold is the great equalizer in fashion. Today I wore my grandma mary janes to church. I haven't worn them all winter, but even I am getting sick of wearing my hot high heeled boots. I hate my grandma mary janes. Then someone told me after church that they couldn't stop staring at my cute shoes. I guffawed. Never forsake fashion for comfort. yea right.
