Do You Love the Whole World? I Do Because It's Just Awesome

Dear TV Writers,

Even though it was hard on everyone, thanks so much for striking. As you know (because you were on strike)Lost, 24, The Office, and 30 Rock weren't on. In fact, Law and Order wasn't even on! People aren't used to that.

Luckily, people had to watch something. It was a real coup for us. Our ratings have never been higher!

Don't get us wrong--we are SO glad you are back. But we can't say it isn't just a little bittersweet for us.

Yours Truly,
Discovery Channel, National Geographic Channel, and TLC

[I love this commercial. It has my whole heart, and so does the world. Please geek out to it with me.]

  2. Ah, girls camp.

    That's what I think of when I hear "boom-dee-ah-dah."

However, now I will always think of Stephen Hawking.

    I like it!

  3. Amen to the Stephen Hawking comment.
I always think of Bonny and my parents when I hear that song. We must have done a lot of car singing when I was a child.

  4. We saw this commercial the other night. I think they may have two versions, because the Mythbuster guy's said something in the other version {wish I had a better memory right now so I could elaborate...} anyway watch for it.

For some reason when I saw the commercial the other night I thought of you.

  6. The other version Linds is talking about, Adam sings "I like to try things" while he lights Jamie on fire.

Also how in the world could they come back from strike, but for CSI:NY only be able to muster 2 new episodes and then bring us back to re-runs? What happened to a FULL season of new episodes instead of cutting it up over 9 months. LAME.

  7. Love the commercial. And I am in total dork mode...Deadliest Catch has become my new favorite show to watch.

  8. What would I do without Man vs. Wild? How else would I know that the Elder Pine (easily identified by its 3 needle pattern) has bark that makes great roe when woven together?

  10. I so love this commercial. The writer's strike weaned me off a lot of shows. Pre-strike, I'm embarrassed to say that I was watching a TON of TV. TONS. Now I watch two and a half hours a week, with maybe some random HGTV thrown in for good measure. (We'll see how long it lasts.)

  11. awww - i love that song too - it reminds me of drivinginthe car with my parents phoebe and harry and with my children and bruce - although my children sing MUCH flatter than my parents. maybe it's just bruce. he has other gifts.

and i think i might have to start watching discovery channel - i guess their commercial is working.

  12. I LOVE that! I totally forgot about that song and we used to sing it all the time when I was growing up. Childhood flashback = bonus!

  13. I LOVE this commercial...and smile in spite of myself each time I see it/think about it.

We are big TLC/Discovery channel watchers...even before the strike, but still. The funny thing was that when my Mexican Hubby saw the commercial...he's all "I don't get it. What are they saying? Boom -de what?"
