Hope Springs Eternal

I for one am pretty excited about The Incredible Hulk. I say this as someone who developed adult-onset interest in comic book stuff. I know it would be more legitimate if I had grown up reading and loving comic books. But I didn't. I did, however, grow up watching The Incredible Hulk on TV. It doesn't make sense to me to think of Hulk as a "super-hero." I always thought of him as a very nice man (Bill Bixby) with a severe and shameful problem. I guess I have strict requirements for super heroes. I've thought about it a lot.

There's been a lot of buzz from the fans and by "fans" I mean "what you hope your son doesn't turn into." Most of it isn't positive. So it will probably disappoint in the same way Indiana Jones disappoints. But I don't care. What else do I have to look forward to? On the one hand, Edward Norton is cool and moody and interesting. On the other hand, he's not so happy with the "final cut." On the one hand, didn't Ang Lee just make Hulk a few years ago? On the other hand, wasn't it so unsuccessful that he almost retired? (Good thing he didn't!) I guess that's what you get for casting Eric Bana as Bruce Banner. Just because they have the same name doesn't mean it's good. Banner! Banner! Who play Banner! How 'bout Bana? Yes, Bana for Banner! I like!
More to the point, what are you doing June 13th and where can I get a pair of soft, high-waisted, knit shorts like that?!

    The Hulk? Seriously?

99% of the time I worship you...here is the 1% where I have to pause. That and the whole dog person thing.

  3. I like Ed Norton in those shorts. Even though he's pulling a freakish face. I would see it just for Ed.

  4. "What else do I have to look forward to?"

GOOD POINT: Sincerely, it will be a year until Heroes is back on. . .that's IF the actor's don't strike. I said IF!

  5. oh,just loving Edward Norton here.
My husband was a comic collector in his 'ute' and it seems like every preview we see he'll tell me "comic book character" and I always want to challenge him. I mean, c'mon, I just don't see Beverly Hills Chihuahua as a comic book!!

  6. Definitely not into the comic book thing. I do love seeing pretty much any movie, and I'm sure Hulk will be no different. it's my 16th anniversary that day, though. Hulk is not exactly romantic. (Like I've ever had a romantic anniversary. All I want for my anniversary is to eat lots of food and not hang out with my kids.)

  8. I absolutely loved Indy. It was entertaining and thats exactly what I was expecting.

Ang Lee should have retired after The Hulk. That movie was dreadful. Plus, with the supposed cameo of Iron Man (Robert Downey) I'm thinking this will be awesome.

What can I say, I'm easy to please when it comes to movies.

  10. You are a good listener. It's hard to carry on a convo with little ones running about, especially ones who persistently open and close french doors. Mostly I'm referring to a nurse at my doctors office and my mom. :)

I've been reading Light Refreshments and I watched the entire interview your father in law did. Here's to slow day's at the office!

  11. "Adult onset" comic book fan...something like that...
I just finished Kavalier and Clay and now my son and I look for the same "books" at the library.
Ed makes me want to give the Hulk another try.
    Who'm I kidding? I'm a sucker for summer blockbusters.
