When Chen Fei Screamed I Felt Weird

I think it's been long enough since the Olympics that I can mention this. I heard that Chen Fei is really good and stuff but this is the only part of gymnastics that I watched and it made me feel really uncomfortable. If I knew Chen Fei I might say, "So, uh. Why did you do that?" but probably I would never ever speak of it. Not a great video of the actual scream, but this was all I could find. I guess most of the world is like me and wants to pretend it never happened.

  1. Did you see any of the fencing? They bark at each other. Very uncomfortable. Is barking/screaming part of fencing?

  2. Didn't see the Chen Fei thing. Was it just a tension release?

    Your desk is really clean.

Was she just upset that she didn't win? Or did she finally have her first day of cramps---since most of those girls are like....what...ten or something?

  5. I watched it, and it was awkward. But even more awkward was this:

This coach enjoyed reprimanding his silver medalist like a two year old in front of all of America...

  6. This is why I don't watch the Olympics: I try to avoid all weird-feeling-inducing experiences.

  7. If I were only 11 and they made me got to the gym for 8 hours a day, contort my body like that and straight faced lie about my age I would scream too. Poor thing let her go home and play.

  8. The fencing got me all worked up. I expected Erol Flynn, and we got my nephews in the backyard. All that unnecessary weird waving and the UNNECESSARY shouting. And both fencers shouted, I couldn't tell who got the point. I am worked up now. Thanks a lot.

  9. A lot of things about the chinese olympians made me feel weird. They were a little bit robotic for me.

  10. Kacy! I didn't see her scream. I wish I had. But I will agree with the first commenter here, the barking involved in the fencing IS extremely uncomfortable. I had to mute it. Glad to have found your blog. I laughed when I read your wishlist, at multiple wishes, and particularly enjoyed the excerpt from the baller song. who can't get down with a little Skee-lo? haha.

  11. Kacy--I would love to meet you too (this is a convo started on another post--another blog--whatever) but I don't think we live in the same state. Alas, only one book signing for me UNLESS all you wonderful gals out there who belong to book clubs get your book club to read it and I sell a hundred copies out in Utah--then I would come and sign books. If anyone wanted me to. I think my niece would put me up. She's having a baby sometime in the next few months but I'm sure she wouldn't mind if I took over the nursery. You know, just for a few days. No?

p.s. Is it copyright infringement if I blatantly credit you and I don't exactly quote you word for word?
