Still Awesome: Ferris Bueller?

Ugh. If Ferris Bueller is this old, what does that make me?

But yes, Ferris Bueller's Day Off will always be awesome. I'm not sure if it's timeless in its humor or coolness. Probably not? But for us it was mind-blowingly meta before meta was even a thing. GET THIS: At the end of the movie Ferris Bueller looks at the audience and tells them to, "Go home--the movie's over!" Have you seen Citizen Kane? I found it quite boring. But apparently its use of flashbacks was incredibly mind-blowing at the time. Ferris Bueller is the same. Remember when Lost flashed forward? That was so great!

  1. I can tell you that I still haven't outgrown my heartfelt passion for Cameron. He's one of the most memorable movie characters ever, for me.

  2. I recently rented Ferris Beuller to show my kids, so I could pass on the awesomeness. Alas, too many "s" words. I didn't remember all those "s" words, which makes me wonder, will my kids? But I guess I can't risk that. This makes me sound like a prude. But I'm not. I LOVE the "s" word...

  3. I want to break this to you tactfully...it's Bueller. (not Beuller.)

I had such a crush on Matthew Broderick the first 10 or so times I watched FBDO. I still love the way his voice cracks. Or cracked.

  8. Ferris, awesome, but I hate being old enough that they're doing re-dos of everything I love. Didn't we learn an important lesson from the Smurf movie?

  9. Love Ferris.
And for Carly- when my early 20s kids were younger I did not let them watch FBDO because of the language. But now they know and love Ferris. My younger kids have not seen it yet. Not sure what this says about me, except maybe that I think some things are just not for little kids, but fine for older kids. (So many movies that I had loved I found I didn't love my little kids watching them. However, I do love talking about them with my older kids.)

    Anyway, I liked the commercial.

Also, I still have my FBDO Leisure Rules button from the opening night show we went to many years ago.
