I'd Be Lost Without My Blogger

I love masculine camaraderie. I saw the Sherlock Holmes sequel this weekend.  I will love all the movies in that franchise because the best part is the the chemistry between Jude Law and Robert Downy Jr. I actually feel jealous and wish I were in a relationship with another man in the same way, but only if I were a man. It's weird, I know.  I have good female friends in real life but female camaraderie is rarely portrayed as very cool in movies. There are great and interesting and strong female friendships in movies, which are moving. But I've never been as jealous of them as I am of Holmes and Watson.

I've seen the new BBC version of Sherlock Holmes and it's probably my favorite ever. Sherlock uses Google Maps and Dr. Watson blogs about their adventures.  They have a great rapport. Holmes tells Watson, "I'd be lost without my blogger." He also explains, "I'm not a psychopath. I'm a high-functioning sociopath."

I love the original books of course but one of my favorite Sherlock Holmes stories is The Seven-Per-Cent Solution: Being a Reprint from the Reminiscences of John H. Watson, M.D. (Norton Paperback) and I also love the movie Young Sherlock. I also love House. I also wish I were one of Ocean's 11.

  5. Somebody told me the other day that the rest of Sherlock was not as good as the pilot, and I was like, "You're an idiot." I love that show.

  8. I keep trying to explain this, and how awesome Sherlock Holmes is, to so many people, and until now, I felt completely misunderstood. Thank you.

  10. Not a huge fan of the Sherlock movies as I hate every movie that features an explosion. Unless it also has Matt Damon who cancels out all explosions.

My 13 year old son love this modern Sherlock. I think I'll try it out since it comes after that PBS genealogy show I love so much.
