It's a Flesh-Colored Body Shaper, Officer--I Swear

I wore this spunky striped shirt dress from Lands End to church today. It's about knee- length with buttons all the way down, stripes, and a belt. When I sat down in sacrament meeting the buttons gaped open a little. It wouldn't have been the end of the world if they had been gaping open to a white slip but I was wearing a flesh-colored body shaper which, as you have probably guessed from the part I told you about the gaping, was not doing it's job.

I'm not saying it's OK to flash slip but flashing flesh color really ups the obscenity level. Especially when it is flashing from your lap. It was as if I were totally brittneyspearsin' it. So I went home to change. I knew that I would be blessed for my modesty. That blessing came in the form of sacrament meeting going by really fast. I got back just in time for the last part of a brother-sister duet which was fine by me because I basically feel uncomfortable when people try.

  1. The word Flesh-Colored kind of makes my skin crawl.

  2. I have one of those that I wore to church today! Does yours go from bra to thigh like mine does? They don't even come in white, you know. I would say that my dress was modest since there was no gaping at the buttons, but it was pretty slinky, so I guess not. I really want to look hot for those Sunbeams.

  3. I was Super Woman for halloween this past year...I bought a "flesh-colored" body suit that goes from the ankles to the wrists. I wanted to give my character "authenticity..."

Well...It was so "real" looking, that I kept having all the other young woman leaders coming up to me, telling me I might want to "pull up my top..." or giving me "the eye of disapproval." I got so tired of it, that at one point, I just pulled it all the way down to show them I was fully covered...but I think it only fueled the bad impression of me, because they thought I was going to flash them a strapless bra!

  4. I was talking to a lady at church today and was so distracted by her black lace, tight top with a flesh-colored lining underneath. I even told her I was distracted by it. She probably thought I was being judgmental, but I was really just fascinated by her daring attire. Oh, my husband just told me he noticed her top, too. He wasn't sure about the probability of it being her skin. There is no moral to this story. Oh, except God bless the brother-sister duets. I'm sorry that I likely won't be in your ward to get to experience your stripey shirt dress and the musical numbers firsthand.

  7. Bwa ha ha ha. We just moved, and I still haven't got all of my clothes out of bags and boxes. I pulled out a random dress yesterday, got to church and realized I really should have worn a tank top or something under it. I don't think that much cleavage is really quite appropriate in Sacrament Meeting. I wanted to leave but husband enjoyed it too much and he had the keys.
